Capturing Life's Special Memories

In an Heirloom Painting

How it works

I’m so glad you connect with my work—creating a custom portrait together is always a deeply meaningful and collaborative process. Once you reach out, I’ll send over my commission pricing guide, which outlines investment options based on size and complexity, along with a general timeline for each format. We’ll begin with a conversation about your vision—whether it’s an intimate moment, a symbolic composition, or a timeless formal pose—and I’ll create a few composition and size options to help you clearly envision the piece before making any final decisions. We can work from photographs or from life, depending on what feels right for the piece. Once everything is aligned, the painting unfolds with care, craftsmanship, and intuitive attention to detail. I can’t wait to hear what you’re envisioning.

Choosing a reference

If we’re working from photos, the best results come from images with one clear light source and a natural balance of light and shadow. Natural light from a window tends to work beautifully—please avoid flash photography. High-resolution, full-color images (at least 10×8 inches at 300 dpi) are ideal. A subtle, relaxed expression usually translates best—think gentle smile rather than a full-tooth grin. If the portrait includes multiple people, I can combine separate photos, but it’s important that the lighting is consistent across all images. To start, feel free to send over any photos you like or are considering, and I’ll be happy to guide you toward the one that will work best for the painting.
